University of the Philippines Diliman Christ on Campus 

PREAMBLE 

We, the members of University of the Philippines Christ on Campus – Diliman, imploring the aid of the Almighty God, realizing the need for a Christian organization, which will reach out to students and lead them to a dynamic relationship with Jesus Christ, do hereby promulgate this Constitution. 

ARTICLE I.  NAME OF ORGANIZATION AND DOMICILE

Section 1. The name of the organization shall be: UP Christ on Campus (UP CoC). 

Section 2. The domicile and principal office of the organization shall be UP Diliman, Quezon City. 

 

ARTICLE II.  DECLARATION OF PRINCIPLES AND OBJECTIVES 

Section 1. The UP Christ on Campus exists to reach out to students in UP-Diliman and various people groups outside UP Diliman, and to lead them to a dynamic relationship with Jesus Christ. 

Section 2. The UP Christ on Campus provides opportunities for every student to know Jesus Christ more in a non-threatening and fully voluntary manner through conducting Bible Studies, Seminars and fellowships. 

Section 3. The UP Christ on Campus also provides venues fro student-led missionary activities such as mission exposure, networking with mission agencies and local churches, cross-cultural community services, etc. 

ARTICLE III.  MEMBERSHIP 

Section 1. The membership of the organization is open to all bonafide students of UP Diliman who will voluntarily join the Christ on Campus. 

Section 2. Membership in the organization is effective upon signing the covenant form with due certification by the head of the membership committee. The validity of membership shall last for one semester. Every member is required to reaffirm his or her membership at the start of every semester. 

Section 3. Individuals who have either graduated from UP Diliman or have moved to other universities and were active members of the organization while students in UP Diliman will be automatically promoted as Alumni of the organization. 

Section 4. Individuals or institutions whose membership will give honor to the organization will be accorded honorary membership. Validity of this type of membership shall be continuous unless revoked. 

 
ARTICLE IV.  RIGHTS AND DUTIES OF MEMBERS 

Section 1. Rights of Members.

A member shall have the following rights:

    1. To exercise the right to vote on all matters relating to the affairs of the organization;
    2. To be eligible to any elective or appointive office of the organization;
    3. To participate in all deliberations to meetings of the organization;
    4. To avail of all facilities of the organization and of the University, as well; and
    5. To examine all the records or books of the organization during business hours.  

Section 2. Duties and Responsibilities the members

A member shall have the following duties and responsibilities

             2.1 To uphold the organization’s constitution;

             2.2 To obey and comply with the by-laws, rules, and regulations that may be promulgated by the organization from time to time;

             2.3 To attend all meetings of the organization; and

             2.4 To pay membership fees and other dues assessed by the organization. 

 

ARTICLE V.  SUSPENSION AN TERMINATION OF MEMBERSHIP 

Suspension and termination of membership shall be in accordance with the rules and regulations of the organization. 

Any member of the organization may fire charges against a member by filing a written complain with the secretary of the organization. The officers and adviser/s shall be called to a meeting to consider the charges. The affirmative vote of majority of all officers and advisers shall be necessary to suspend or terminate a member. 

 

ARTICLE VI.  THE EXECUTIVE COMMITTEE AND THEIR QUALIFICATIONS 

Section 1. Composition of Officers.

The officer of the organization shall be composed of a President, a Vice President, a Secretary, a Treasurer, and a Public Relation Officer. The officers shall be appointed by the outgoing batch of officers. 

Section 2. The officers shall hold office for one school year, (summer 2nd semester) until their successors are duly inducted. 

Section 3. Qualifications of Officers.

The officers of the organization must possess the following qualifications:

3.1 Bonafide students of UP Diliman

3.2 Believers of Jesus Christ and the Gospel; and

3.3 Committed to uphold the principles and objectives of the organization and the University as well. 

 

ARTICLE VII. DUTIES AND POWERS OF OFFICERS 

Section 1. The President.

The President of the organization shall perform the following tasks:  

    1. Be the Chief Executive Officer of the organization;
    2. Preside in all meetings of the organization
    3. Be in-charge of directing and overseeing the activities of the organization;
    4. Submit to the members a complete report of the activities and operations of the organization for the school under his/her term;
    5. Audit the financial report of the Treasurer;
    6. Attend all activities and programs of the organization; and
    7. Lead in achieving the organization’s purposes and objectives.

 

Section 1. The Vice-President.

The Vice-President of the organization shall perform the following tasks:   Exercise all powers and perform all duties of the President during his/her absence;

    1. Have a direct authority over all other officers and members and may prescribe duties to them with the approval of the President;
    2. Attend all activities and programs of the organization; and
    3. Perform duties that may be assigned by the President.

 

Section 1. The Secretary

 The Secretary of the organization shall perform the following tasks: 

3.1 Give all notices of the meeting to the members and officers;

3.2 Keep minutes of all meetings of the members and the officers;

3.3 Have the custody of the organization’s records and correspondence files;

 

Section 4. The Treasurer.

The Treasurer of the organization shall perform the following tasks: 

4.1 Be in-charge of the funds, receipts and disbursements of the organization;

4.2 Keep all money and other valuables of the organization in a bank as the officers may designate;

4.3 Shall come up with suitable fund raising programs;

Section 5. The Press Relations Officer.

The Press Relations Officer (PRO) of the organization shall perform the following tasks:

5.1 Serve as the ambassador officer of the organization to other parties;

5.2 Disseminate information tot the members regarding the activities of the organization;

5.4 Perform other duties and functions that may be assigned from time to time by the President. 

 

ARTICLE VIII.  MEETINGS 

Section 1. Regular Meetings.

Regular meetings shall be held once a week. It shall consist of Bible Study, Worship, and Fellowship. 

Section 2. Special Meetings.

Special meetings of the members shall be called as the need thereof arises. 

Section 3. Annual Meetings.

The annual meetings of the members shall be held at the principal office on any date in March of each year. The President shall render his/her annual report to the members regarding the activities and the finances of the organization. The induction of officers will also be held during this meeting. 

Section 4. Notices.

Notices of the time and place of annual, regular and special meetings of the members shall be given at least (2) weeks before date set for such meeting. The notice of every meeting shall state briefly the purpose/s of the meeting. 

 

ARTICLE IX.  SPIRITUAL ADVISER AND FACULTY ADVISER 

Section 1. The organization is free to choose its spiritual adviser. The spiritual adviser shall uphold he Christian beliefs of the organization, and exhibits maturity in wisdom and stature and in right favor with God and men. 

Section 2. The organization is free to choose its faculty adviser/s. The Faculty Adviser/s should be a Christian and a faculty member of the University of the Philippines. 

 

ARTICLE X.   QUORUM 

Section 1. A majority of the total number of the active members shall constitute a quorum in a General Assembly (GA). 

Section 2. A majority of the officers shall constitute a quorum o transact a business. 

 

ARTICLE XI.  AMENDMENTS 

Section 1. This Constitution, or any provision thereof, may be amended r repealed by a majority vote of the members and by a majority vote of officers at any regular or special meeting duly held for the purpose. 

Section 2. By-laws or any provision thereof, may be amended or repealed by a majority of officers at any regular or special meeting duly held for the purpose. 

 

ARTICLE XII.  EFFECTIVITY 

This Constitution shall take effect immediately upon its ratification by the majority of the assembly on special meeting called for such purpose and shall supersede any other by-laws and all amendments thereto.
